photo id
When disaster strikes, identifying victims is one of the most daunting tasks facing rescue workers and medical personnel imaginable. As they render aid, all they have to go on is estimated information for age and physical condition. Frantic friends and relatives bombard rescuers with questions while trying to locate loved ones and learn their condition. A photo id would be a valuable resource for emergency personnel.
The job of identifying victims could be made much easier if everyone wore a photo id badge showing a recent photograph, name, and pertinent other information such as who to notify in case of accident, and even relevant medical information as to allergies, medications, etc. Sufferers of many diseases, such as diabetes, wear bracelets made of stainless steel or other materials to alert medical personnel as to their condition, and this concept could easily be adapted for everyone by using a photo id.
Even if photo id badges became separated from the victim, chances are the photo id badge would be found nearby and could be matched to the victim's face, saving valuable time for hospitals and other care givers, and could prevent needless heartbreak for a family waiting for word of the condition of family members or friends.
Traditionally, a photo id is used to identify company personnel or attendees at meetings where security is an issue, or as a means of allowing attendees to identify each other by name. A photo id may also be worn by students, church members, club and fraternity members, etc. The photo id may be inserted into a top-loading badge holder, or it may be permanently laminated between two pieces of heavy-duty plastic and clipped or pinned onto clothing. Whatever the case, the uses for a photo id are varied and convenient for identification purposes.
